FAQs

  • The CAMSA was founded following a virtual strategic planning session led by the CFMS Atlantic Regional Director in September 2021. During the session, medical student leaders unanimously agreed that the Atlantic region was underrepresented nationally and faced unique challenges compared to other students across Canada. Additionally, there was a shared sense of regional divide within the existing leadership structure.

  • In 2021-2022, eight medical students from across the Atlantic provinces came together to found the CAMSA.

  • To represent, unite, advocate for and promote collaboration among undergraduate Atlantic Canadian medical students.

  • The CAMSA is governed by a Board of Directors composed of Atlantic medical students.

The Board of Directors is organized into portfolios that lead initiatives focused on student wellness, medical education, advocacy, and social accountability. Furthermore, the CAMSA offers resources to enable students to launch their own projects as well as establish financial and non-financial partnerships to enhance the lives of Atlantic medical students.
